HJF is seeking a Military Behavioral Health Social Worker to assist with development and dissemination of core curriculum for sexual assault response prevention in support of work with the Department of Defense Sexual Assault Response and Prevention Office (DoD SAPRO). The ideal candidate will have experience with curriculum development, adult learning and teaching, and victim advocacy.

This position will be in support of the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences’ Center for Deployment Psychology (CDP), which is based in Bethesda, MD. The Military Behavioral Health Social Worker will assist with activities related to CDP’s mission, which is to lead the development of a community of military culturally mindful and clinically competent providers through the delivery of high-quality training and education, the convening of experts, and the dissemination of research-based treatment and the latest topics in military behavioral health. The Henry M. Jackson Foundation (HJF) provides administrative and management support to the Center. CDP strives to be the central hub for the Military Health System (MHS) in the development and implementation of training and education to clinicians in order to ensure that all service members, veterans, and their families receive quality behavioral healthcare that meets their unique needs

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a subject matter expert in soft encounter skills (e.g., developing rapport, active listening, building trust, etc.) and in working with victims of sexual assault.
  • Assist with dissemination of an Encounter Skills Curriculum by facilitating multiple live multi-day train-the-trainer workshops to ensure the DoD has a cadre of well qualified trainers.
  • Assist with the development of a standardized core curriculum for the DoD Sexual Assault Response Workforce that will align with core competency requirements guided by the ADDIE model of instructional design.
  • Collaborate as an active member and/or lead on team projects and assist with programming, strategic communications, metrics, and process improvements.
  • Contribute to CDP’s educational initiatives through subject matter expert blog posts, podcasts, videos, infographics, asynchronous training materials, and other learning educational activities. Prepare scholarly manuscripts for publication and presents at national and/or international conferences to disseminate the work conducted by the Center.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Master's Degree required in Social Work, Psychology, Public Health required. Doctoral Degree preferred in Social Work, Psychology, Public Health
  • Minimum of 6-8 years' experience required.

Required Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

  • Knowledge of the field of victim advocacy.
  • Experience delivering professional presentations to adult learners, including an ability to engage learners with varied experience levels, respond effectively to questions, and convey information with clarity.
  • Experience with curriculum development for adult continuing education, including designing presentations and supporting materials. Skilled in conducting literature reviews, developing clear learning objectives, creating assessments, and designing engaging activities that support the overall curriculum goals.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to craft professional correspondence, develop educational and marketing materials, produce reports, and provide briefings and updates to internal stakeholders and external partners.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, including the ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently while meeting deadlines with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Clinical experience providing mental health services to adult clients.
  • An active clinical behavioral health license to practice within the United States.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a T1 Public Trust Clearance.

Physical Capabilities

  • Ability to stand or sit at a computer for prolonged periods.

Work Environment

  • This position will take place primarily in an office setting.

Compensation

  • The annual salary range for this position is $88,600-$130,000. Actual salary will be determined based on experience, education, etc.
