Description

The Product Owner is responsible for overseeing the development and enhancement of products, ensuring alignment with the company's strategic vision and customer needs. This role involves managing the product backlog, collaborating with stakeholders, and leading the design and implementation of user experiences.

Essential Functions

  • Build and maintain the product backlog by creating and prioritizing user stories for the development team.
  • Work closely with lines of business to create business cases for new opportunities within their respective product line.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to facilitate communication between them and the development team, keeping stakeholders informed of progress.
  • Prioritize product needs by considering budget, scope, and time constraints.
  • Ensure alignment with the product vision to help the development team visualize the user experience.
  • Determine customer needs by understanding the market and translating the company's strategic plan into actionable steps in partnership with Business Line and Business System Analysts.
  • Assess product progression by monitoring the production process to reflect changes in vision and customer objectives.
  • Manage feedback loops to identify areas for system and process improvements.
  • Lead the design and enhancement of user experience and interface, ensuring solutions meet user needs and align with best practices.
  • Oversee release planning and coordinate with development teams to ensure timely delivery of features and improvements.
  • Collaborate with Business System Analysts to translate business line strategies into development tasks.
  • Actively engage in the line of business strategy and operations, providing insights to align communications systems with organizational goals.
  • Ensure that all systems comply with industry regulations and security standards, implementing necessary protocols and guidelines.
  • Maximize the value of the product resulting from the work of the team.
  • Act as a servant leader, coaching and mentoring others on the team.
  • Structure the work for the team and delegate and prioritize tasks.
  • Actively manage and escalate risk and customer-impacting issues to management.
  • Ensure product features and processes align with regulatory, compliance, and risk management standards.
  • Articulate requirements into use cases, agile stories, and acceptance criteria.
  • Execute appropriate testing frameworks for product features.
  • Work with Data to ensure required data quality controls are identified and implemented.
  • Partner with vendors and cross-functional partners in the evaluation, development, management, and enhancement of products.

Qualifications

Education/Certification:

  • Preferred bachelor's degree in business, computer science, or a related field.

Required Knowledge

  • Strong understanding of the product lifecycle and the ability to manage products from conception to completion.
  • Knowledge of market research and data analysis techniques.
  • Familiarity with regulatory, compliance, and risk management standards.

Experience Required

  • Experience in product ownership or a related field.
  • Experience with Finance and Accounting systems.
  • Experience in agile methodologies is a plus.

Hard/Technical Skills/Abilities

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with stakeholders and the development team.
  • Proficiency in project management tools and software.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or similar certification is preferred.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
